I think I'm going to brave it

Whenever I've knit a tee or sweater in the past, my mum always picks up the neck stitches for me and then I just knit them.
I've never been able to do it myself, it just doesn't work out well.
It seems to look lopsided almost, I can't get it to sit or look nice.

Well, I have just cast off the front of the teal coloured tee I am knitting and all that's left, apart from the sewing up is to do the neck and arm bands.
So I'm sat here staring at it and thinking to myself that really, I should just try and do it for myself.
I mean, how hard can it be?

I've got to get over this mental block of thinking I'm just going to mess it up and just try!!

(This is TEAL, why can't I ever get the colour to come out as teal???)

I'll be so pleased if I manage it.

So I've decided I'm going to brave it and give it a go. I'll let you know whether I was successful or not.

Take care!!

  1. Good luck! I know what the feeling is like. I am trying to do my first sock heel . I think we just have to do it and know that maybe it won't be perfect but the process will teach us so much so that some day we will be perfect. : )

    1. Thanks Lorri, you're right of course and that's such a great attitude towards it. I just have to get over myself really and get on with it, lol

  2. A little tip when picking up stitches, this is a great way if you're not used to doing it. Divide the pick up area into equal sections with some pins or contrasting thread. Divide the amount of stitches to be picked up into the amount of sections you have. This will help you get it more even right across the pick up area.
I was having trouble with taking pictures for a long time, try taking your pictures in the best natural light area you can and turn off your flash. This works for me.
So now my tips are done let me comment on your Tee, it is really great and I love the different textures you've achieved. I am looking forward to seeing it all finished.
Have a great day Kim x

    1. That is such a great idea!!
It will make small areas to cope with rather than one great big amount. Thanks for that Linda, I appreciate it a lot.

Yes, I'll have to practice with different lighting. Good idea!!

Thanks again Linda, you take care.

  4. You'll do fine and each time will get better. I like to use a crochet hook to pull my yarn through and then put it on the needle.
